New data platform Kube focuses on user-friendly and efficient sustainability reporting for Belgian SME’s

Febelfin and Isabel are joining forces to support SMEs and reduce their administrative burden. After the summer, they will launch a solution enabling SMEs to register the right ESG sustainability data in a standardised way via Isabel's Kube ESG platform. Based on that data, the platform creates an ESG report that SMEs can share with the right parties free of charge, securely and very easily.

Handling the ESG-data tsunami

More and more SMEs already need an ESG report, for instance as part of a public tender or at the request of a customer or a financial institution. Others want to prepare now for future questions or obligations. Moreover, more and more SMEs see sustainability not only as a social responsibility, but also as a strategic asset - towards customers, potential investors, financial institutions and future employees - so they also want to consciously invest in reporting their sustainability efforts.

However, they often lack a unified framework for collecting and analysing the right ESG data. Companies can draw on hundreds of types of qualitative and quantitative sustainability data. Without the right expertise, it is difficult for them to figure out which data is relevant and how to analyse it. SMEs therefore lose a lot of valuable time and resources in their search for a way to prepare a report in line with ESG guidelines.

Broad-based solution in the form of an innovative data platform

Febelfin has been working for some time now with representatives of SMEs, large companies, public investment companies and governments to find broad support for a solution to this problem. As part of this broad cooperation, Febelfin called on Isabel with the specific request to build a platform that enables the smooth and secure exchange of ESG data.

Kube: streamlined and secure digital data exchange

Isabel has responded to this demand with the ESG Kube platform, which is a logical extension of Kube, the Belgian reference platform for the exchange of verified corporate data that Isabel launched last year.

Thanks to Kube, the exchange of Know Your Customer (KYC) data for companies subject to anti-money laundering regulations has been possible since 2024 to comply with increasingly stringent regulations for a safer, more transparent and more regulated financial and digital environment,

In autumn 2025, Belgian SMEs will be able to record relevant sustainability data on Kube ESG in a user-friendly way, and then share it securely and free of charge with parties in the form of an ESG report

Kris De Ryck, CEO of Isabel : “SMEs are increasingly faced with questions about their sustainability efforts, yet there is currently no standardized way to efficiently collect, map, and share the right information. With Kube ESG, a uniform and user-friendly platform that helps companies easily manage their ESG profile and share it with the right stakeholders, we are changing that, with the support of all our stakeholders. This is a strong example of how Verified Corporate Data initiatives like Kube not only enable the highly secure and swift exchange of data but also undeniably drive efficiency gains for businesses. I am therefore proud that, starting this fall, we can help SMEs streamline their sustainability reporting with this platform.

About ESG

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the European directive on sustainability reporting, has significantly expanded reporting obligations in this area. Since 2024, all large and publicly listed companies, regardless of their sector or activities, are required to produce an ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) report. As a result of this European directive, SMEs will also increasingly face requests from governments, financial institutions, and customers to provide such a report. In practice, however, this proves to be an almost impossible task for many companies, as they struggle to navigate the complex ESG data maze in their efforts to report accurately.
